MEMORISATION TIPS
       - Ganiyat Tijani-Adenle

Memorising the Qur'an is a serious project that must be planned for and not left to chance.

Learn a Verse seeks to motivate memorisations but it can't cater for some aspects because we are online and not physically together.

The following tips are suggestions that can help make up for the constraints observed.

1. Don't leave the memorisation to chance. Plan a specific time and dedicate it to memorising new verses and revising the ones you've memorised previously. People recommend early in the morning. Choose a time that's right for you.

2. Learn to read in Arabic if you don't know how. The transliteration cannot fully capture how you should recite the Qur'an.

3. Learn tejweed. Very important.

4. Record yourself with your phone and listen to it. Compare it to the reciter's recitation and make amends.

5. Get a family member, friend or teacher to listen to you.

6. Use the learnt verses in your salat and nawafil.

7. Avoid sins as they debar memorisation.

May Allah make it easy for us all. امين

Surah 110. An-Nasr

Verse 1

Transliteration:

Idhaa jaaha nasrullahi wal fat-hi

Meaning:
1. When there comes the help of Allah (to you, O Muhammad against your enemies) and the Conquest (of Makkah).
Tafsir

This Surah informs of the Completion of the Life of Allah's Messenger

Al-Bukhari recorded from Ibn `Abbas that he said, "Umar used to bring me into the gatherings with the old men of (the
battle of) Badr. However, it was as if one of them felt something in himself (against my attending). So he said, `Why do you (`Umar) bring this (youth) to sit with us when we have children like him (i.e., his age)' So `Umar replied, `Verily, he is among those whom you know. Then one day
he called them and invited me to sit with them, and I do not think that he invited me to be among them that day except
to show them. So he said, `What do you say about Allah's statement,

(When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest.)'

Some of them said, `We were commanded to praise Allah and seek His forgiveness when He helps us and gives us
victory.' Some of them remained silent and did not say anything. Then he (`Umar) said to me, `Is this what you say, O Ibn `Abbas' I said, `No.' He then said, `What do you say' I said, `It was the end of the life of Allah's Messenger that Allah was informing him of. Allah said,
(When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest.) which means, that is a sign of the end of your life.

Today's verse

ﺳﻮﺭﺓ ﺍﻟﻤﺴﺪ.           Arabic

Chapter 111

English:

The Palm Fibre

Verse 5

Transliteration:

General: Fi jidiha hablu min masad

With Tajweed: Fii jiidihaa 'habelu-m-mi-masade

Translation:

In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad (palm fibre).
Tafsir:

The tafsir of this chapter was completed yesterday.

Please kindly permit me to remind us of the best manners we should apply when memorising the Qur'an. Please read below:
Please read this as part of our preparations.

Easy steps for
Memorizing Quran
By Asma Arshad

1. Niyah (intention) for Allaah: This is making a
sincere intention of memorizing the Qur’an to only gain the pleasure of Allaah ‘Azza wa Jall. If this is not your intention, then your whole plan of
memorizing fails and there will be no barakah in
your memorizing.

2. Start practicing Islam to the best of your ability: It is important to keep an Islamic habit and trying to abstain from sinning. Be in the company of good people who will encourage you to do good
practices rather than those who take you away
from the path of Allaah ‘Azza wa Jal.

Imaam Shafi’ee once complained to his teacher
about poor memory, and this was obviously a
great concern for the great Imaam of one of the
four school of thoughts. The teacher of Imaam
Shafi’ee advised him to abstain from sin. So this
is indeed a great advice for us to follow as well,
since abstaining from sin will eventually make us
focus more on the ‘ibaadah (worship) rather than the dunyaa (worldy matters).

3. Learning tajweed from someone who has Ijaaza: This is to learn from a teacher who knows
how to pronounce the words and vowels correctly in order to recite the Qur’an in its correct
manners.

4. Make a habit to memorize every day: Do bit by bit every day, even if it is little as memorize 5
small ayahs from the Qur’an. Do your best to
make this a consistent effort, so that you will not
fall back on your goals. If you memorize even a
small amount day by day, you will be one step
closer to the end of bridge insha’allah.

5. Memorize at the early stage of the day: I know
this is difficult for a lot of us, especially for me. I
must admit, I love snuggling with my nice comfy pillow, however for those who are really
determined in memorizing the Book of Allaah, it is
best to memorize right after Fajr/ early in the
morning when the mind is fresh and when the
beautiful Sun is bright.

6. Recite to somebody on consistent basis: Have
a friend, family member or a teacher who you can
recite to consistently. This is an amazing tip when
it comes to reviewing, because you will have
someone catch the small mistakes you wont
notice while you are reciting the surah from
memory.

7. Compete!!: It is best to have a buddy that you
can compete with. At times you may feel
unmotivated. This is true for a lot of students and
due to this reason you may see people actually
quitting on their goal. That's why a little
competition won't hurt. Try finding a friend who
you know wants to memorize the Qur’an and
knows nearly the same amount as you. Both of
you can race towards attaining good deeds and
keep each other motivated by sharing how much each of you have memorized at the end of the day and how much you reviewed. And Allah says: “So hasten towards all that is good.” ( 2:148 )

Verse 4

Transliteration:

General: Wamra atuhu hama latal hatob

With Tajweed: Wamra atuhuu 'hammaa latal hatobe

Translation:

And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), or use to slander him).
Tafsir:

(He will enter a Fire full of flames!) meaning, it has flames, evil and severe burning.

The Destiny of Umm Jamil, the Wife of Abu Lahab
(And his wife too, who carries wood.) His wife was among the leading women of the Quraysh and she was known as
Umm Jamil. Her name was `Arwah bint Harb bin Umayyah and she was the sister of Abu Sufyan. She was supportive of her husband in his disbelief, rejection and obstinacy.
Therefore, she will be helping to administer his punishment in the fire of Hell on the Day of Judgement. Thus, Allah
says,
(Who carries wood. In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad.)

Meaning, she will carry the firewood and throw it upon her husband to increase that which he is in (of torment), and she will be ready and prepared to do so.
(In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad.)

Mujahid and `Urwah both said, "From the palm fiber of the Fire.'' Al-`Awfi
narrated from Ibn `Abbas, `Atiyah Al-Jadali, Ad-Dahhak and Ibn Zayd that she used to place thorns in the path of the
Messenger of Allah . Al-Jawhari said, "Al-Masad refers to fibers, it is also a rope made from fibers or palm leaves. It is also made from the skins of camels or their furs. It is
said (in Arabic) Masadtul-Habla and Amsaduhu Masadan, when you tightly fasten its twine.'' Mujahid said,
(In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad.)

"This means a collar of iron.'' Don't you see that the Arabs call a pulley
cable a Masad.

A Story of Abu Lahab's Wife harming the Messenger of Allah

Ibn Abi Hatim said that his father and Abu Zur`ah both said that `Abdullah bin Az-Zubayr Al-Humaydi told them that Sufyan informed them that Al-Walid bin Kathir related from Ibn Tadrus who reported that Asma' bint Abi Bakr said,
"When
(Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab and perish he)!) was revealed, the one-eyed Umm Jamil bint Harb came out wailing, and she had a stone in her hand. She was saying,
`He criticizes our father, and his religion is our scorn, and his command is to disobey us.' The Messenger of Allah was
sitting in the Masjid (of the Ka`bah) and Abu Bakr was with him. When Abu Bakr saw her he said, `O Messenger of Allah! She is coming and I fear that she will see you.' The
Messenger of Allah replied,
(Verily, she will not see me.) Then he recited some of the Qur'an as a protection for himself. This is as Allah says,
﴿ﻭَﺇِﺫَﺍ ﻗَﺮَﺃْﺕَ ﺍﻟْﻘُﺮﺀَﺍﻥَ ﺟَﻌَﻠْﻨَﺎ ﺑَﻴْﻨَﻚَ ﻭَﺑَﻴْﻦَ

(And when you recite the Qur'an, We put between you and those who believe not in the Hereafter, an invisible veil.) (17:45) So she advanced until she was standing in front of Abu Bakr and she did not see the Messenger of Allah . She then said, `O Abu Bakr! Verily, I have been informed that your friend is making defamatory poetry about me.' Abu
Bakr replied, `Nay! By the Lord of this House (the Ka`bah) he is not defaming you.' So she turned away saying,
`Indeed the Quraysh know that I am the daughter of their leader.'''

Al-Walid or another person said in a different version of this Hadith, "So Umm Jamil stumbled over her waist gown while she was making circuits (Tawaf) around the House (the Ka`bah) and she said, `Cursed be the reviler.'
Then Umm Hakim bint `Abdul-Muttalib said, `I am a chaste woman so I will not speak abusively and I am refined so I do not know. Both of us are children of the same uncle. And after all the Quraysh know best.'' This is the end of the Tafsir of this Surah, and all praise and blessings are due to
Allah.

Translation:

Tafsir:

The tafsir of verse 3 and 4 are together.

Since we are not taking the tafsir of this verse, I thought to use this opportunity to remind us of why we are here and the benefits of what we are doing.

Please read the write-ups below:
10 Reasons We Should Memorise the Qur'an

Allah the exalted says:
Indeed those who recite the Book of Allah and establis prayer, and spend (in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a
Transaction [i.e., profit] that will never perish” (Surah 35 Fatir, Verse 29)

Reciting the book of Allah is mentioned alongside
establishing Salaah and spending in the way of Allah. This clearly shows us that reciting the book of Allah is among the
best of good deeds.

Aboo Moosaa al-Asha'aree reported that the Prophet
(Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, "The believer who recites
the Qur'aan is like a citrus fruit - its fragrance is pleasing and its taste is sweet. The believer who does not recite the
Qur'aan is like a dry date - it has no fragrance but its taste is sweet. The hypocrite who recites the Qur'aan is like a basil - its fragrance is sweet, but its taste is bitter. The
hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'aan is like a colocynth
- it has no smell, and its taste is bitter" (Muslim)

Aboo Moosaa al-Ash'aree reported that the Prophet
(Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, "Part of Showing glory to Allaah is to show respect to a white-haired Muslim, and a carrier of the Qur'aan who does not exaggerate in it (i.e., overstep its bounds) nor ignore it (i.e., leave it), and a just ruler" (Aboo Dawoood)

Clearly from this hadith we can see that part of showing glory to Allah is to show respect to the memoriser of the
Qur'an who is mentioned alongside a just ruler who is of the best of people.

The following are 10 reasons why we should all recite, practise upon and memorise the Qur'an as much as we can
until our last breath:

1. Highest ranks of Jannah for the Memoriser of the Qur'an:
Ibn 'Amr reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi
wasallam) said:
"It will be said to the companion of the Qur'aan after he has entered Paradise, 'Recite, and rise!' For every verse he
recites he will rise one level (in Paradise), until he recites the last verse with him (i.e., in his memory)." (Aboo Dawood)

This Hadith mentions the merit of those who memorize part or all of the Qur’an. Some scholars, in explaining this Hadith, have mentioned that the number of ranks (levels) in Paradise is equal to the number of ayahs (verses) in the Qur’an, and that a believer will rise one rank for each ayah (verse) that he or she memorizes. Obviously, the one who
memorised the whole Qur'an will stop at the last verse of the Quran meaning they will be of those among the highest
ranks of paradise.
Whoever memorizes Quraan and acts upon it, Allaah will reward him and honour him greatly for that, so that he will
rise in status in Paradise to a level commensurate with what he memorized of the Book of Allaah.
Subhanallah! We should all memorise as much of the Qur'an as we can until our last breath for every ayah we memorise will result in higher ranks in Jannah!

2. The Highest Honour for the Parents of the Memoriser of the Qur'an
“Mu'aadh al-Juhani narrates that the Prophet (Sallallahu
Alaihi wasallam) said: 'Whosoever recites the Quran and practices upon its injunctions, the reciter's parents will be
given a crown on the day of Qiyaamat. The brightness of that crown will be more intense than the brightness of the
sun in your actual house.'
The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) further said: 'What do you think will be given to the Hafiz (reciter) of the
Quran himself?'” (Mishkaat Vol I.)

So not only will the Hafiz recieve rewards beyond
comprehension but it will also mean the highest honour for the parents who will wear a crown on Qiyamat. We try so
hard to make our parents proud in this world but imagine how proud they will be on that day. Subhanallah!

It was narrated that Buraydah said: “The Prophet (Sallallahu
Alaihi wasallam) said: ‘Whoever reads the Qur’aan, learns it and acts in accordance with it, on the Day of Resurrection
his parents will be given a crown to wear whose light will be like the light of the sun, and his parents will be given garments which far surpass everything to be found in this world. They will say,
“Why have we been given this to
wear?” It will be said, “Because your child learned the Qur’aan.”’” (Narrated by al-Haakim, 1/756)

So let us ALL be of those who are given such high honour on the day of judgement and encourage our children to become
memorisers of the Qur'an. But those parents who prevented their child from learning the Qur’aan will be of those who lost out for eternity!

3. The best person is he who learns the Qur'an & teaches it.

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said: The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it. (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

4. The memoriser of the Qur'an is worthy of envy in this world

The memoriser of the Qur'an will is of two people who we should be envious of in this world:
Ibn 'Amr reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi
wasallam) said, "There is no cause to be envious except in two cases: (the first is of a) person whom Allaah has taught
the Qur'aan, and he recites it in the day and night, and one of his neighbours hears him and says, 'Woe to me! I wish I
had been given what he has been given, then I would do what he is doing! (The second is of a) person whom Allah
has blessed with wealth, and he spends it in good causes, so a person (who sees him) says, 'Woe to me! I wish I had been given what he has been given, then I would do what he is doing!" (al-Bukhaaree)

5. Every letter the Memoriser of the Qur'an recites is rewarded ten times or more

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said: “Whoever recites one Word from the Book of Allah will be rewarded for
a good deed and ten more like it; and I don’t say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter but Alif is a letter and Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter” (Tirmidhi & Al-Dareemi)

So for every letter of the Qur'an the memoriser recieved a minimum or ten rewards and of course Allah can reward a person much more if he wants to.

The Qur'an has 6666
verses and ever verse has so many alphabets. Can you imagine the number of alphabets the memoriser of the
Qur'an recites. He will recite one verse again and again and has to continuously recite the Qur'an to keep it fresh in his heart. Surely he would have gained millions of rewards by completing the Qur'an just once.

Thereafter he will go over
a verse again and again in his mind and he would have recited the Qur'an again and again resulting in rewards beyond mathamatical calculations and our limited comprehension.

6. The Qur'an will intercede for the Memoriser of the Qur'an:

It was narrated that Abu Umaamah al-Baahili said: “I heard the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) say: ‘Recite the
Qur’aan, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection to
intercede for its companions. Recite the two bright ones, al-
Baqarah and Soorat Aal ‘Imraan, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection like two clouds or two shades or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them.
Recite Soorat al-Baqarah for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it.” (Muslim: 804, Al-Bukhaari).

A day when we will be in great need of an intercession the Qur'an will intercede for the memoriser of the Qur'an.

7. Jannah for the one who memorised the Qur'an
Hadrat Ali (RA) reports that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam) said:
“Anyone who knows the Quran by heart and follows the lawful and the prohibited according to it, he will be sent to
Heaven by Allah.” (Tirmidhi).

As long as the memoriser of the Qur'an following the lawful and kept away from the prohibited then he will be granted Jannah.

8. A crown and garment of honour for the Memoriser of the
Qur'an.

Aboo Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi
wasallam) said, "The Qur'aan will be brought on the Day of Judgement, and it will say, 'O My Lord! Adorn him (the one
who read and practised it)!' So he will be adorned with the crown of glory and honour . It will then say, 'O My Lord!
Increase this!' So he will be clothed with the clothes of glory and honour. Then it will say, 'O My Lord! Be pleased with
Him! So He (Allaah) will be pleas
ed with him. It will be said, 'Recite! And rise!' and every verse he recites will bless him
with a good deed" (at-Tirmidhee)

What an honour it would be when on such a day of terror the memoriser of the Qur'an would be given such a high honour and adorned with a crown and garment of glory and honour.

9. The Memoriser of the Qur'an will be saved from the fire

Rasulullah (Salallahu Alaihi wasallam) said: "If the Qur'aan is enclosed by skin (i.e., if a person memorises the entire Qur'aan), then Allaah
will never burn it in the Fire (of Hell) (al Bayhaqee)

10. Double reward for those who try hard to memorise the Qur'an.

Aaishah that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said:
The likeness of the one who reads Quraan and memorizes it is that he is with the righteous honourable scribes. The
likeness of the one who reads it and tries hard to memorize it even though it is difficult for him, he will have (at least) a
double reward. (Al-Bukhaari, 4937)
So we must NEVER give up memorising the Qur'an even
though we may struggle to learn a single verse for it maybe that shaythan will try hard to make a person give up
knowing that he will recieve double rewards for it if he
continues.
Allah rewards a person according to their intention and sincerety so if one is sincere and intends to learn the Qur'an
and dies whilst doing so then it maybe that Allah may raise such a person amongst those who actually memorised the
Qur'an. Subahanallah!
We must NEVER think we cannot do it because we can accomplish anything we want to accomplish. The only thing
stopping us is ourselves!

If an 82 year old Grandmother can
memorise the entire Qur'an then why can't any of us?
Please read the follwong story of an 82 year old
Grandmother who managed to memorise the entire Qur'an:
An Interview with Umm Saalih, A Grandmother Who
Completed Memorizing the Qur’an at 82 Years Old

May Allah enable us and our children to learn the Qur'an
and implement it into our daily lives. Ameen

"Kasab means his children.'' A similar statement has been reported from `A'ishah, Mujahid, `Ata', Al-Hasan and Ibn Sirin. It has
been mentioned from Ibn Mas`ud that when the Messenger of Allah called his people to faith, Abu Lahab said, "Even if
what my nephew says is true, I will ransom myself (i.e., save myself) from the painful torment on the Day of Judgement with my wealth and my children.''

Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet), and perish he!
Tafsir:

The Reason for the Revelation of this Surah and the Arrogance of Abu Lahab toward the Messenger of Allah

Al-Bukhari recorded from Ibn `Abbas that the Prophet went out to the valley of Al-Batha and he ascended the mountain.

Then he cried out,
‏« ﻳَﺎ ﺻَﺒَﺎﺣَﺎﻩ‏»
(O people, come at once!) So the Quraysh gathered around him. Then he said,
(If I told you all that the enemy was going to attack you in
the morning, or in the evening, would you all believe me)
They replied, "Yes.'' Then he said,
(Verily, I am a warner (sent) to you all before the coming of a severe torment.)

Then Abu Lahab said, "Have you gathered us for this May you perish!''

Thus, Allah revealed,
(Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab and perish he!) to the end of the Surah.

In another narration it states that he stood
up dusting of his hands and said, "Perish you for the rest of this day! Have you gathered us for this''

Then Allah revealed,
(Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab and perish he!) The first part is a supplication against him and the second is
information about him.

This man Abu Lahab was one of the uncles of the Messenger of Allah. His name was `Abdul-`Uzza bin Abdul-Muttalib. His surname was Abu `Utaybah and he was only called Abu Lahab because of the brightness of his face. He used to often cause harm to the Messenger of Allah . He hated and scorned him and his religion.

Imam Ahmad recorded from Abu Az-Zinad that a man called Rabi`ah bin `Abbad from the tribe of Bani Ad-Dil, who was a man of pre-Islamic ignorance who accepted Islam, said to him, "I saw the Prophet in the time of pre-Islamic ignorance
in the market of Dhul-Majaz and he was saying,
ﺗُﻔْﻠِﺤُﻮﺍ‏»
(O people! Say there is no god worthy of worship except Allah and you will be successful.) The people were gathered
around him and behind him there was a man with a bright face, squint (or cross) eyes and two braids in his hair. He
was saying, "Verily, he is an apostate (from our religion) and a liar!'' This man was following him (the Prophet ) around
wherever he went. So, I asked who was he and they (the people) said, "This is his uncle, Abu Lahab.'' Ahmad also
recorded this narration from Surayj, who reported it from Ibn Abu Az-Zinad, who reported it from his father (Abu Zinad) who mentioned this same narration. However in this
report, Abu Zinad said, "I said to Rabi`ah, `Were you a child at that time' He replied, `No. By Allah, that day I was most intelligent, and I was the strongest blower of the flute (for
music).''' Ahmad was alone in recording this Hadith.

Today's verse

Chapter 112

ﺳﻮﺭﺓ ﺍﻹﺧﻼﺹ Arabic

Transliteration: Suratul Al-Ikhlas

Meaning:  The Purity/ The Sincerity

Verse 4

Arabic:

ﻭَﻟَﻢْ ﻳَﻜُﻦْ ﻟَﻪُ ﻛُﻔُﻮًﺍ ﺃَﺣَﺪٌ

Transliteration:

General: Wa lamu yakun lahu kufu wani Ahad

With Tajweed: Wa lam yaku-llahuu kufuwan Ahade

Translation:

"And there is none co-equal or comparable to Him"
Tafsir:

(And there is none comparable to Him.) This means that there is none similar to Him, none equal to Him and there is
nothing at all like Him.''

Ibn Abi Hatim also recorded it and
At-Tirmidhi mentioned it as a Mursal narration. Then At-Tirmidhi said, "And this is the most correct.''

Bukhari reported that the Prophet (saw) said, "No one can surpass Allah in showing patience on a painful thing. He hears the people saying He is a son, yet He bestows upon them health and provision."

According to another Hadith reported by Bukhari, the Prophet (saw) said, "Allah said: The son of man denied Me while he aught not to do it; he abused Me, while he aught not to do it. His denial is to say that I shall not bring him to life again as I created him first; the first creation was not easier for me than returning it back to life. His abuse is that he says that Allah begot a son, while I am Alone and Self-Sufficient. I did not begot nor am I begotten, and there is no one like Me."

Tafsir ibn Kathir
As we have come to the end of this surah today, we will share some general messages about it.

Hadith about repeating this Surah

`Abdullah bin Imam Ahmad recorded from Mu`adh bin `Abdullah bin Khubayb, who reported that his father said,
"We became thirsty and it had become dark while we were waiting for the Messenger of Allah to lead us in prayer.

Then, when he came out he took me by my hand and said,
‏«ﻗُﻞ‏»
(Say.) Then he was silent. Then he said again,
‏«ﻗُﻞ‏»
(Say.) So I said, `What should I say' He said,
(Say: "He is Allah, One,'' and the two Surahs of Refuge (Al-Falaq and An-Nas) when you enter upon the evening and the
morning three times (each). They will be sufficient for you two times every day.)'' This Hadith was also recorded by Abu Dawud, At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa'i. At-Tirmidhi said,
"Hasan Sahih Gharib.'' An-Nasa'i also recorded through another chain of narrators with the wording,
(They will suffice you against everything.)

Another Hadith about supplicating with it by Allah's Names

In his Book of Tafsir, An-Nasa'i recorded from `Abdullah bin Buraydah, who reported from his father that he entered the
Masjid with the Messenger of Allah , and there was a man praying and supplicating saying, "O Allah! Verily, I ask you
by my testifying that there is no God worthy of worship except You. You are the One, the Self-Sufficient Sustainer of
all, Who does not give birth, nor were You born, and there is none comparable to Him.'' The Prophet said, "By the One in Whose Hand my soul is, he supplicated with the Grand Divine Name of Allah. Any supplication made with this Grand Divine Name of Allah, is granted.

With Tajweed: Lam yalide wa lam yuulade

Translation:

"He begets not, nor was He begotten;
Tafsir:

Allah did not begot nor is He begotten, neither has He parent nor a wife. At another place, Allah said:
"He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How can He have children when He has no wife? He created all things..." Q6:101.

Allah also said:
"And they say: The Most Gracious (Allah) has begotten a son. I deed you have brought forth a terrible evil thing, whereby the heavens are almost torn, and the earth is split asunder and the mountains fall in ruins, that they ascribe a son to the All-Gracious. And it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the All-Gracious that He beget a son. There is none in the heavens and the earth but comes to the All-Gracious as a slave. Verily, He knows each one of them, and has counted them a full counting. And everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection." Qur'an 19 : 88-95

At another place, Allah said:

"And they say: The All-Gracious (Allah) has begotten a son.' Glory to Him. They are but honoured slaves. They speak not until He has spoken, and they act on His Command." Q21: 26-27.

Allah said: "And they invented a kinship between Him and the jinn, but the jinn know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him). Glorified is Allah from what they attribute unto Him".

Allah - the Self Sufficient Master
Tafsir

Verse 1 & 2

Ikrimah reported that the Jews believed 'Uzair is the son of Allah and worshipped him, while the Christians treated Jesus as the son of Allah and worshipped him.

On the other hand, the polytheists used to worship idols. Against this background was revealed this surah in which Allah directs his Messenger (saw) to pronounce that Allah is Alone, He is Self-Sufficient. He is neither son of anyone, nor He has offspring. And lastly He is comparable to none.

Ibn Abbas explaining the word Samad said: He is Self-Sufficient; He stands in need to none, while everyone needs Him. No one equals Him in greatness, kindness, knowledge and wisdom. These attributes are found only in Allah and no one else. 'Samad' has also been explained as the One Who does not eat; nor does He beget, nor is He begotten.

Abdullah bin Buraidah said that Samad is a Bright Light.

Abul-Qasim Tabarani, explaining the word Samad, in his book As - Sunnah, quotes all these views and says that all these views are appropriate, because all these attributes are found in Allah.

Similar was recorded by At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Jarir and they added in their narration that he said,
(As-Samad) is One Who does not give birth, nor was He born, because there is nothing that is born except that it will
die, and there is nothing that dies except that it leaves behind inheritance, and indeed Allah does not die and He does not leave behind any inheritance.

Tafsir ibn Kathir
Another Hadith that its Recitation necessitates Admission into Paradise

Imam Malik bin Anas recorded from `Ubayd bin Hunayn that he heard Abu Hurayrah saying, "I went out with the Prophet and he heard a man reciting `Say: He is Allah, the
One.' So the Messenger of Allah said,
‏« ﻭَﺟَﺒَﺖ‏»
(It is obligatory.) I asked, `What is obligatory' He replied,
(Paradise.)'' At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa'i also recorded it by way of Malik, and At-Tirmidhi said, "Hasan Sahih Gharib. We do not know of it except as a narration of Malik.''

The Hadith in which the Prophet said,
(Your love of it will cause you to enter Paradise.) has already been mentioned.

Arabic:

Say, He is Allah, One
Tafsir

Imam Ibn Kathir did the tafsir of verse 1 & 2  together so we won't take verse 1 tafsir now. But we will share some of the importance of this chapter.
A Hadith on its Virtues

Al-Bukhari reported from `Amrah bint `Abdur Rahman, who
used to stay in the apartment of `A'ishah, the wife of the Prophet , that `A'ishah said, "The Prophet sent a man as the
commander of a war expedition and he used to lead his companions in prayer with recitation (of the Qur'an). And he
would complete his recitation with the recitation of `Say: He
is Allah, One.' So when they returned they mentioned that to
the Prophet and he said,
(Ask him why does he do that.) So they asked him and he said, `Because it is the description of Ar-Rahman and I love
to recite it. So the Prophet said,
(Inform him that Allah the Most High loves him.)'' This is how Al-Bukhari recorded this Hadith in his Book of Tawhid.

Muslim and An-Nasa'i also recorded it. In his Book of Salah,

Al-Bukhari recorded that Anas said, "A man from the Ansar used to lead the people in prayer in the Masjid of Quba'.
Whenever he began a Surah in the recitation of the prayer that he was leading them, he would start by reciting `Say: He
is Allah, One' until he completed the entire Surah. Then he would recite another Surah along with it (after it). And used to do this in every Rak`ah. So his companions spoke to him
about this saying; `Verily, you begin the prayer with this Surah. Then you think that it is not sufficient for you unless you recite another Surah as well. So you should either recite
it or leave it and recite another Surah instead.' The man replied, `I will not leave it off. If you want me to continue leading you (in prayer), I will do this; and if you all do not
like it, I will leave you (i.e., I will stop leading you).' They used to consider him to be of the best of them to lead them in prayer and they did not want anyone else to lead them other than him. So, when the Prophet came they informed him of this information and he said,
(O so-and-so! What prevents you from doing what your companions are commanding you to do, and what makes you adhere to the recitation of this Surah in every Rak`ah)
The man said, `Verily, I love it.' The Prophet replied,
(Your love of it will cause you to enter Paradise.) This was recorded by Al-Bukhari, with a disconnected chain, but in a manner indicating his approval.
A Hadith that mentions this Surah is equivalent to a Third of the Qur'an

Al-Bukhari recorded from Abu Sa`id that a man heard another man reciting
(Say: "He is Allah, One.'') and he was repeating over and over. So when morning came, the man went to the Prophet
and mentioned that to him, and it was as though he was belittling it. The Prophet said,
ﺍﻟْﻘُﺮْﺁﻥ‏»
(By He in Whose Hand is my soul, verily it is equivalent to a third of the Qur'an.) Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i also
recorded it.

Another Hadith Al-Bukhari recorded from Abu Sa`id, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah said to his Companions,
‏« ﺃَﻳَﻌْﺠِﺰُ ﺃَﺣَﺪُﻛُﻢْ ﺃَﻥْ ﻳَﻘْﺮَﺃَ ﺛُﻠُﺚَ ﺍﻟْﻘُﺮْﺁﻥِ ﻓِﻲ
ﻟَﻴْﻠَﺔٍ‏»
(Is one of you not able to recite a third of the Qur'an in a single night) This was something that was difficult for them
and they said, "Which of us is able to do that, O Messenger of Allah'' So he replied,
("Allah is the One, As-Samad'' is a third of the Qur'an.) Al- Bukhari was alone in recording this Hadith.

ﺳﻮﺭﺓ ﺍﻟﻔﻠﻖ: Suratul Falaq
The Daybreak

Verse 5

Transliteration:

Translation:
5. "And from the evil of the envier when he envies.''
Tafsir:

Imam ibn Kathir didn't do a specific tafsir on this verse.

But we will post some comments about it

Comments on Envy

Envy is an evil character trait that afflicts the soul of the envier when he sees the one he envies has received some blessing or some good from Allah. For then, the envier desires that it be taken away from him. Our own envy harms us because we become mean and unkind to those who we envy.

Similarly, envy of other people can harm us as an envious person may make our lives difficult.

Envy is an evil action, and it was the first sin by which Allah(swt) was disobeyed, for when Allah honored Adam, Iblis
envied him. This led him to plot against Adam and envy him.

Also, this was the first crime committed on the earth when the son of Adam (AS) became jealous of his brother; this led him to kill him.

Therefore, we seek protection of Allah from
all these types of evils.

Today's Verse

ﺳﻮﺭﺓ ﺍﻟﻔﻠﻖ: Suratul Falaq

Verse 4

Transliteration:

Wamin sharrin naf faa thaati fiil 'uqad

Translation:
4. "And from the evil of the blowers in knots,''
Tafsir

(And from the evil of the blowers in knots,)

Mujahid, `Ikrimah, Al-Hasan, Qatadah and Ad-Dahhak all said, "This
means the witches.''

Mujahid said, "When they perform their spells and blow into the knots.''

In another Hadith it has been reported that Jibril came to the Prophet and said, "Are you suffering from any ailment, O
Muhammad'' The Prophet replied,
‏« ﻧَﻌَﻢْ‏»
(Yes.) So Jibril said, "In the Name of Allah, I recite prayer (Ruqyah) over you, from every illness that harms you, from the evil of every envious person and evil eye. May Allah
cure you.''

Discussion of the Bewitchment of the Prophet

In the Book of Medicine of his Sahih, Al-Bukhari recorded that `A'ishah said, "The Messenger of Allah was bewitched
until he thought that he had relations with his wives, but he had not had relations with them.''

Sufyan said, "This is the
worst form of magic when it reaches this stage.'' So the Prophet said,
ﺃَﺗَﺎﻧِﻲ ﺭَﺟُﻠَﺎﻥِ ﻓَﻘَﻌَﺪَ

ﻓِﻲ ﺑِﺌْﺮِ ﺫَﺭْﻭَﺍﻥَ‏»
(O `A'ishah! Do you know that Allah has answered me concerning that which I asked Him. Two men came to me and one of them sat by my head while the other sat by my
feet. The one who was sitting by my head said to the other one, `What is wrong with this man' The other replied, `He is
bewitched.' The first one said, `Who bewitched him' The other replied, `Labid bin A`sam. He is a man from the tribe of Banu Zurayq who is an ally of the Jews, and a hypocrite.'

The first one asked, `With what (did he bewitch him)' The other replied, `With a comb and hair from the comb.' The first one asked, `Where (is the comb)' The other answered,
`In the dried bark of a male date palm under a rock in a well called Dharwan.')

`A'ishah said, "So he went to the well to remove it (the comb with the hair).

Then he said,
(This is the well that I saw. It was as if its water had henna soaked in it and its palm trees were like the heads of devils.)
So he removed it (of the well).

Then I (`A'ishah) said, `Will
you not make this public' He replied,
(Allah has cured me and I hate to spread (the news of) wickedness to any of the people.)''

Tafsir ibn Kathir
CAUTION

You may be wondering..."How could the Prophet (s.a.w) have been bewitched?

Read this:
Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is
but one God; so take a straight course to Him
and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - (Q41 verse 6).

So, although the Prophet is the best of mankind, he is still but a human being.

Also, Allah permits him to have different experiences so the Ummah can learn from them.

And Allah knows best.

Today's verse

Transliteration:

Translation:
3. "And from the evil of darkness when it settles"
Tafsir:

(And from the evil of the Ghasiq (night) when Waqab (settles,) Mujahid said, "Ghasiq is the night, and `when it Waqab' refers to the setting of the sun.''  Al-Bukhari mentioned this from him.

Ibn Abi Najih also reported a similar narration from him
(Mujahid).

The same was said by Ibn `Abbas, Muhammad bin Ka`b Al-Qurazi, Ad-Dahhak, Khusayf, Al-Hasan and Qatadah. They
said, "Verily, it is the night when it advances with its
darkness.''

Az-Zuhri said,
(And from the evil of the Ghasiq when Waqab,) "This means the sun when it sets.''

Abu Al-Muhazzim reported that Abu Hurayrah said,
(And from the evil of the Ghasiq when Waqab, ) "This means the star.'' Ibn Zayd said, "The Arabs used to say, `Al-Ghasiq
is the declination (of the position) of the heavenly body known as Pleiades. The number of those who were ill and stricken with plague would increase whenever it would decline, and their number would lessen whenever it rose.'''

Ibn Jarir said, "Others have said that it is the moon.''

The support for the people who hold this position (that it
means the moon) is a narration that Imam Ahmad recorded
from Al-Harith bin Abi Salamah. He said that `A'ishah said,  "The Messenger of Allah took me by my hand and showed me the moon when it rose, and he said,
ﻭَﻗَﺐَ‏»
(Seek refuge with Allah from the evil of this Ghasiq when it becomes dark.)'' At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa'i both recorded
this Hadith in their Books of Tafsir in their Sunans

The same has been reported from Mujahid,
Sa`id bin Jubayr, `Abdullah bin Muhammad bin `Aqil, Al-Hasan, Qatadah, Muhammad bin Ka`b Al-Qurazi and Ibn
Zayd.

Malik also reported a similar statement from Zayd bin Aslam.

Al-Qurazi, Ibn Zayd and Ibn Jarir all said, "This is like Allah's saying ,

Suratul-Nas: Mankind

Verse 6

Transliteration:

Minal jinnati wan naas.

Meaning:

From among the jinn and mankind.
Then Allah says,
(Of Jinn and An-Nas.)

Is this explanatory of Allah's statement,
(Who whispers in the breasts of An-Nas.) Then, Allah explains this by saying,
(Of Jinn and An-Nas.)

This is supportive of the second view.

It has also been said that Allah's saying,
(Of Jinn and An-Nas) is an explanation of who is it that whispers into the breasts of mankind from the devils of mankind and Jinns.

This is similar to Allah's saying,
ﺯُﺧْﺮُﻑَ ﺍﻟْﻘَﻮْﻝِ ﻏُﺮُﻭﺭﺍً﴾
(And so We have appointed for every Prophet enemies --
Shayatin among mankind and Jinn, inspiring one another with adorned speech as a delusion.) (6:112)

Imam Ahmad recorded that Ibn `Abbas said, "A man came to the Prophet
and said, `O Messenger of Allah! Sometimes I say things to myself that I would rather fall from the sky than say (aloud openly). '

The Prophet said,

ﻛَﻴْﺪَﻩُ ﺇِﻟَﻰ ﺍﻟْﻮَﺳْﻮَﺳَﺔِ‏»
(Allah is Most Great! Allah is Most Great! All praise is due to Allah Who sent his (Shaytan's) plot back as only a whisper.)'' Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i also recorded this Hadith.

Tafsir ibn Kathir
More on the verse:

The summary of the message in the verse is that there are shayateen (evil people) among both human beings and jinns who encourage people to do evil. That is why the Prophet (S.A.W) said that when one is angry and wants to misbehave, he should seek refuge in Allah because all the whisperings are from Shaytan.

See this du'a:

Supplication when angry

Bismillaah. Allaahumma jannibnash-Shaytaana, wa jannibish-Shaytaana maa razaqtanaa.

With the Name of Allaah. O Allaah, keep the Shaitan away from us and keep the Shaitan away from that which You provide for us.

Also, the evil people among men are referred to also as Shayateen. They inspire and encourage others to sin against Allah and dissuade them from following Allah's commandments. On the Day of Judgement, individuals who made friends with such evil people would regret.

"Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken
so-and-so as a friend!
He led me away from the remembrance after it
had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter." Qur'an 25 verses 28-29.

So a Muslim must watch carefully who he/she makes friends with, as they (the friends) will determine his/her relationship with her Lord.

May Allah keep us among the righteous.

Transliteration:

Alladhi yuwaswisu fii suduurin naas.

Meaning:

Who whispers in the breasts of mankind
More on the Verse:

This verse is a continuation of the 4th verse which says "From the evil of the whisperer who whispers and withdraws" and - 5th- "who whispers in the breast of mankind".

The tafsir is saying that the whisperer whispers into the hearts of both men and jinn.

Let us remember that jinns(spirits) are like men too, in that, they also have their own communities just like we do. And they also have believers and unbelievers amongst them. And also among the believers, they also have the good doers and those who sin. The believers and good among them will enter Paradise while the unbelievers will enter hell-fire. Allaah تعالى  says: {And I (Allaah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone).} [Surah al-Dhaariyaat (51): 56]. Please read Chapter 72 of the Qur'an for more information about jinns.

About what the whisperer whispers into the heart of men, it is evil or sinful sins to make creation (men and jinn) to become inmates of hell-fire.

In Chapter 4 verse 119, Shaytan said " Verily, I will mislead them, and surely, I will arouse in them false desires; and certainly, I will order them to slit the ears if cattle, and indeed, I will order them to change the nature created by Allah." And whoever takes Shaytan (Satan) as a Wali (protector or helper) instead of Allah, has surely suffered a manifest loss.

So what does he (Satan) commands? Narrated Abu Hurairah, The Prophet (S.A.W) said "The (Hell) Fire is surrounded by all kinds of desires and passions, while Paradise is surrounded by all kinds of disliked undesirable things. (Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 8, Hadith No. 494).

Inordinate desires and animalistic passions lead to the Fire while self-control, perseverance, chastity and all other virtues, and the obedience of Allah and His Messenger (S.A.W) lead to Paradise. What leads to hell is easy to do while what leads to Paradise is difficult to do.

Suratul- Nas: Mankind

Verse 4

Transliteration:

Minshar rilwas waasil khan naas.

Translation:

"From the evil of the
whisperer who withdraws."

OR

From the evil of the
whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the heart of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in one's heart after one remembers Allah).
Tafsir:

It is also confirmed in the Two Sahihs from Anas, who reported the story of Safiyyah when she came to visit the Prophet while he was performing I`tikaf, that he went out with her during the night to walk her back to her house. So,
two men from the Ansar met him (on the way). When they saw the Prophet , they began walking swiftly. So, the
Messenger of Allah said,
(Slow down! This is Safiyyah bint Huyay!) They said, "Glory be to Allah, O Messenger of Allah!'' He said,
(Verily, Shaytan runs in the Son of Adam like the running of the blood. And verily, I feared that he might cast something
into your hearts -- or he said -- evil.)

Sa`id bin Jubayr reported that Ibn `Abbas said concerning Allah's statement,
(The whisperer (Al Waswas) who withdraws.) "The devil who is squatting (perched) upon the heart of the Son of Adam. So when he becomes absentminded and heedless he whispers. Then, when he remembers Allah he withdraws.''

Mujahid and Qatadah also said this. Al-Mu`tamir bin Sulayman reported that his father said, "It has been mentioned to me that Shaytan is Al-Waswas. He blows into the heart of the Son of Adam when he is sad and
when he is happy. But when he (man) remembers Allah, Shaytan withdraws.'' Al-`Awfi reported from Ibn `Abbas;
﴿ﺍﻟْﻮَﺳْﻮَﺍﺱِ﴾
(The whisperer.) "He is Shaytan. He whispers and then when he is obeyed, he withdraws.''

Today's verse

Suratul- Nas: Mankind

Verse 3

Transliteration:

Ilaahin naas

Meaning:

The God of Mankind
Tafsir: Verse 1 to 3

The Verses:
Say: "I seek refuge with the Lord of Mankind. The King of Mankind. The God of Mankind

These are three attributes from the attributes of the Lord, the Mighty and Majestic. They are lordship, sovereignty and
divinity. Thus, He is the Lord of everything, the King of everything and the God of everything. All things are created by Him, owned by Him, and subservient to Him.

Therefore, He commands whoever is seeking protection to seek refuge
with the One Who has these attributes from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws. This (the whisperer) is the devil
that is assigned to man. For verily, there is not any of the Children of Adam except that he has a companion that beautifies wicked deeds for him. This devil will go to any
lengths to confuse and confound him. The only person who is safe is He Whom Allah protects.

It is confirmed in the Sahih that he (the Prophet ) said,
(There is not a single one of you except that his companion (a devil) has been assigned to him.) They (the Companions)
said, "What about you, O Messenger of Allah'' He replied,
(Yes. However, Allah has helped me against him and he has accepted Islam. Thus, he only commands me to do good.)

It is also confirmed in the Two Sahihs from Anas, who reported the story of Safiyyah when she came to visit the Prophet while he was performing I`tikaf, that he went out with her during the night to walk her back to her house. So, two men from the Ansar met him (on the way). When they saw the Prophet , they began walking swiftly. So, the Messenger of Allah said,
(Slow down! This is Safiyyah bint Huyay!) They said, "Glory be to Allah, O Messenger of Allah!'' He said,
(Verily, Shaytan runs in the Son of Adam like the running of the blood. And verily, I feared that he might cast something into your hearts -- or he said -- evil.)

Narrated Aisha: Whenever Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) went to bed, he used to recite Surat Al-Ikhlas (112), Surat Al-Falaq (113) and Surat An-Nas (114) and then blow on his palms and pass them over his face and those parts of his body that his hands could reach. And when he fell ill, he used to order me to do like that for him. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 7, Hadith No. 644)

Suratul Fathia - The Opening

Verse 6

Transliteration

'Ihdinas-Siraatol Mustaqeem

Translation

6. Guide us to the straight path
The Meaning of Guidance mentioned in the Surah

The guidance mentioned in the Surah implies being directed and guided to success.

Allah said,
(Guide us to the straight path) meaning guide, direct, lead and grant us the correct guidance.

Also,
(And shown him the two ways (good and evil)) (90:10), means, `We explained to him the paths of good and evil.'

Also, Allah said,
(He (Allah) chose him (as an intimate friend) and guided him to a straight path) (16:121),

and,
﴿ﻓَﺎﻫْﺪُﻭﻫُﻢْ ﺇِﻟَﻰ ﺻِﺮَﻁِ ﺍﻟْﺠَﺤِﻴﻢِ﴾
(And lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell)) (37:23).

Similarly, Allah said,
(And verily, you (O Muhammad ) are indeed guiding (mankind) to the straight path) (42:52),

and,
(All praise and thanks be to Allah, Who has guided us to this) (7:43),

meaning, guided us and directed us and qualified us for this end - Paradise
The Meaning of As-Sirat Al-Mustaqim, the Straight Path.

As for the meaning of As-Sirat Al-Mustaqim, Imam Abu Ja`far At-Tabari said, "The Ummah agreed that Sirat Al-Mustaqim, is the clear path without branches, according to
the language of the Arabs.

For instance, Jarir bin `Atiyah Al-Khatafi said in a poem, `The Leader of the faithful is on a path that will remain straight even though the other paths
are crooked.'' At-Tabari also stated that, "There are many evidences to this fact.'' At-Tabari then proceeded, "The Arabs use the term, Sirat in reference to every deed and statement whether righteous or wicked. Hence the Arabs would describe the honest person as being straight and the wicked person as being crooked. The straight path
mentioned in the Qur'an refers to Islam.

Imam Ahmad recorded in his Musnad that An Nawwas bin Sam`an said that the Prophet said,
‏« ﺿَﺮَﺏَ ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ ﻣَﺜَﻠًﺎ ﺻِﺮَﺍﻃًﺎ ﻣُﺴْﺘَﻘِﻴﻤًﺎ، ﻭَﻋَﻠَﻰ
(Allah has set an example: a Sirat (straight path) that is surrounded by two walls on both sides, with several open doors within the walls covered with curtains. There is a
caller on the gate of the Sirat who heralds, 'O people! Stay on the path and do not deviate from it.' Meanwhile, a caller
from above the path is also warning any person who wants to open any of these doors, 'Woe unto you! Do not open it,
for if you open it you will pass through.' The straight path is Islam, the two walls are Allah's set limits, while the doors
resemble what Allah has prohibited. The caller on the gate of the Sirat is the Book of Allah, while the caller above the Sirat is Allah's admonishment in the heart of every Muslim.)

Today's verse

Suratul Fatiha verse 3

Transliteration:
Ar-Rahmoonir Raheem

Translation:

The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

Tafsir: Ibn Kathir

The Meaning of Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim are two names derived from Ar-Rahmah (the mercy), but Rahman has more meanings that
pertain to mercy than Ar-Rahim. There is a statement by Ibn
Jarir that indicates that there is a consensus on this meaning. Further, Al-Qurtubi said, "The proof that these names are derived (from Ar-Rahmah), is what At-Tirmidhi recorded - and graded Sahih from `Abdur-Rahman bin `Awf
that he heard the Messenger of Allah say,
(Allah the Exalted said, 'I Am Ar-Rahman. I created the Raham (womb, i.e. family relations) and derived a name for it from My Name. Hence, whoever keeps it, I will keep ties to him, and whoever severs it, I will sever ties with him.') He
then said, "This is a text that indicates the derivation.'' He
then said, "The Arabs denied the name Ar-Rahman, because of their ignorance about Allah and His attributes.''

Al-Qurtubi said, "It was said that both Ar-Rahman and Ar- Rahim have the same meaning, such as the words Nadman and Nadim, as Abu `Ubayd has stated. Abu `Ali Al-Farisi
said, `Ar-Rahman, which is exclusively for Allah, is a name that encompasses every type of mercy that Allah has. Ar-Rahim is what effects the believers, for Allah said,
(And He is ever Rahim (merciful) to the believers.)' (33:43)
Also, Ibn `Abbas said - about Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim,
`They are two soft names, one of them is softer than the other (meaning it carries more implications of mercy).'''

Ibn Jarir said; As-Surri bin Yahya At-Tamimi narrated to me that `Uthman bin Zufar related that Al-`Azrami said about
Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim, "He is Ar-Rahman with all
creation and Ar-Rahim with the believers.'' Hence. Allah's statements,
(Then He rose over (Istawa) the Throne (in a manner that suits His majesty), Ar-Rahman) (25:59),) and,(Ar-Rahman (Allah) rose over (Istawa) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits His majesty).) (20:5)
Allah thus mentioned the Istawa - rising over the Throne - along with His Name Ar-Rahman, to indicate that His mercy
encompasses all of His creation. Allah also said,
(And He is ever Rahim (merciful) to the believers), thus
encompassing the believers with His Name Ar-Rahim. They said, "This testifies to the fact that Ar-Rahman carries a
broader scope of meanings pertaining to the mercy of Allah
with His creation in both lives. Meanwhile, Ar-Rahim is exclusively for the believers.'' Yet, we should mention that
there is a supplication that reads, (The Rahman and the Rahim of this life and the Hereafter)
Allah's Name Ar-Rahman is exclusively His. For instance, Allah said,
(Say (O Muhammad ): "Invoke Allah or invoke Ar-Rahman (Allah), by whatever name you invoke Him (it is the same), for to Him belong the Best Names) (17:110),) and,
(And ask (O Muhammad ) those of Our Messengers whom We sent before you: "Did We ever appoint alihah (gods) to be
worshipped besides Ar-Rahman (Most Gracious, Allah)'') (43:45).

Further, when Musaylimah the Liar called himself the
Rahman of Yamamah, Allah made him known by the name `Liar' and exposed him. Hence, whenever Musaylimah is
mentioned, he is described as `the Liar'. He became an example for lying among the residents of the cities and villages and the residents of the deserts, the bedouins.
Therefore, Allah first mentioned His Name - Allah - that is exclusively His and described this Name by Ar-Rahman,
which no one else is allowed to use, just as Allah said, (Say (O Muhammad ): "Invoke Allah or invoke Ar-Rahman (Allah), by whatever name you invoke Him (it is the same), for to Him belong the Best Names.'') (17:110)
Only Musaylimah and those who followed his misguided ways described Musaylimah by Ar-Rahman. As for Allah's Name Ar-Rahim, Allah has described others by it. For instance, Allah said,
(Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger
(Muhammad ) from amongst yourselves (i.e. whom you know well). It grieves him that you should receive any injury
or difficulty. He (Muhammad ) is anxious over you (to be rightly guided) for the believers (he is) kind (full of pity), and Ra him (merciful)) (9:128).

Allah has also described some of His creation using some of His other Names. For instance, Allah said, (Verily, We have created man from Nutfah (drops) of mixed
semen (sexual discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer (Sami`) and seer (Basir) (76:2).

In conclusion, there are several of Allah's Names that are used as names for others besides Allah. Further, some of Allah's Names are exclusive for Allah alone, such as Allah,
Ar-Rahman, Al-Khaliq (the Creator), Ar-Raziq (the Sustainer), and so forth.
Hence, Allah started the Tasmiyah (meaning, `In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful') with His Name, Allah, and described Himself as Ar-Rahman, (Most Gracious) which is softer and more general than Ar-Rahim.

The most honorable Names are mentioned first, just as Allah did here.
A Hadith narrated by Umm Salamah stated that the recitation of the Messenger of Allah was slow and clear,
letter by letter, (In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of all that exists. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. The Owner or
the Day of Recompense) (1:1-4).

And this is how a group of scholars recite it. Others
connected the recitation.
